About Dr. R. S. Dey

Dr. Ramendra Sundar Dey is a Scientist at Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali, India. Prior, he was a Hans Christian Ørsted postdoc fellow at Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Denmark. He received Ph.D. in Chemistry at 2013 from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India. He is involved in research in the field of electrochemistry of nanomaterials. His current research is focused on the architecture and engineering of nanomaterials for advanced energy storage technology and non-novel metal nanomaterials for electrocatalysis and hybrid energy technology. Dr. Dey has published more than 50 research articles (including Energy & Environmental science, PNAS, ACS Nano, Journal of Materials chemistry A, Nanoscale, Inorganic Chemistry, Chem. Comm. etc), several books and chapters and filed three patent. He has been honored with a number of prestigious National and International recognitions, like, INSPIRE Faculty Award at 2015, Journal of Materials Chemistry A Emerging Investigator under the theme highlighting 2019’s rising stars of materials by RSC and ACS Applied Energy Materials Early Career Energy Scientists 2022. Recently he has been awarded as "Associate of Indian Academic of Science", Bengaluru for the period 2020 to 2023 and member of Indian National Young Academy of Sciences  (INYAS) for 2021-2026.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Our research interest is focused on nanocarbon-based hybrid materials for state-of-the-art energy storage and conversion system for renewable energy generation. We are in progress in developing a hybrid supercapacitor with battery or biofuel cell for clean and self-sustainable energy storage devices, paper-based biofuel cell and electrochemical study of nanoporous materials. We are also interested in developing low-cost biosensing devices.

Recently, our group has developed a one-step electrochemical method for the development of three-dimensional porous reduced graphene oxide-based wire-supercapacitor.

High surface area graphene has been synthesized from no-value waste biomass for energy storage application.
